SISTER HANNAH

Hannah was in dire distress, she refused to eat, she had gone to the church to pray in deep pain and anguish. She was being terrorised , spited at and ridiculed by Peny her hubby’s other wife. 

She knelt , wept, prayed earnestly, the pastor saw the way she was moving her lips, going up and coming down, probably rolling on the floor, she passed for a drunkard so he advised her to stop drinking.

Funny, he didn’t even chase her out of the auditorium for being drunk, (saying this temple is not for unholy people) he advised. So she answered by telling him she was praying to God to have a son. He believed she wasn’t drunk and so he gave her consoling words and prophecy. 

The pastor said to her ‘Go in peace, the Lord has answered your prayers. Funny she stood up cheered up and went her way, probably went to the nearest Coldstone to get a good cup of ice cream with some really nice toppings… she just believed and put action to it, she didn’t ask how or when.

YOU NEED MONEY? PURSUE……

We are in an age where material things have become a big necessity. A young man wants to drive the best cars, live in the best houses , have a beautiful family etc. It is the 21^st century where things  happen very fast, new innovations popping up daily, the phone you’re holding right now possibly has a newer version. Oh yea now all of these puts a demand on us to make a lot of money so we can afford all. Use the latest phones, go on vacation, send our children to the best schools etc. The irony is that many people desire all of these but do not know how to achieve them. That is why a lot of people are struggling to get the best jobs around but come to think of it; there are many people who have really good jobs , they have the money but no fulfillment. So is it a truth that you can have money and not be fulfilled? Well someone would say ‘let me have the money first’. Oh yes because poverty is a very bad thing. ‘Veeery’ bad! Not being able to afford your meals, take yourself round town, wear the clothes you desire, it is bad. There are levels of poverty you know but when you get to some interior villages you would think twice that you are not poor.

Nevertheless, poverty is a thing of the mind that translates into the pocket. As a man thinks so is he. If he thinks he is poor then he is, if he thinks he is rich then he is. The difference between the two is what happens in the heart of the two people, what knowledge they get to take themselves from where they are to where they really want to be. Every man has something, no man is without a something. No man is without a talent, a gift, a purpose!  Seeking first the kingdom and its righteousness means seeking the heart of God. In the bid to do this you will discover yourself and all that God has put inside you, seek it pursue it vehemently and every other thing (cars, shoes, vacation etc) shall be added. Remember a man’s life does not consist in the abundance of the things he possesses, it consists in the fulfillment of his purpose.

When you discover yourself, you set yourself on a smooth path to success. Your identity defined. No confusion about yourself. Your esteem intact such that even when you don’t have money in your pocket you are sure of who you are. So rather than pursuing money, or fame why not pursue purpose. Pursue the substance in your existence and you will be a happy man indeed! 

THE STORY OF TWO HELIUM BALLOONS.

It was my girl’s birthday, so everyone played with winnie balloon until we decided to throw it up for the delight of everyone watching.  Sure as soon as winnie started going up everyone shouted till we could no longer see it in the sky. We decided to keep the bigger, more expensive tea cup 3 balloon to make it fly another day. Day unknown.

And so the following day as her cousins played with the balloon; it got stuck to the roof. So I said ‘ why not throw a pillow at it. Of course, the excitement was much Abraham threw it a pillow; at the second shot instead of coming down ; it busted! Everyone became quiet and unhappy. This balloon was supposed to fly to the excitement of everyone and not burst.

As I looked at the remains of this precious tea cup balloon; it occurred to me that this story can be the story of two people. One fulfilled its exact purpose, the other did not. The one who did can be said to have blessed the people watching’; excited them ; infact showed someone who had never seen such before what is possible. It was fulfilling to see. And the other , even though it was bigger it gave no joy bursting because that was not what it was meant to do. Everyone who saw it burst were sad , those who heard were also sad. This is what happens when a man goes about without fulfilling purpose. His life becomes unceremonious; people cannot get the juice they ought to get from him, causing them pain without knowing.

Would you rather be the small cheap balloon that fulfills purpose or the big more expensive balloon? You don’t need to be sophisticated to do what you were created to do. If you do, everyone one will be happy especially YOU!

Ok so God’s power really saves believe me….

I was in year 2 at the University living off campus; my room-mate had just returned from home, it was night and we were sleeping. It was a good 3bedroom apartment in a very quiet estate, we lived in one of the rooms. So I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and saw a hand trying to open our backdoor ; I jumped up and started praying in the spirit; praying in tongues very loudly  while I was a bit far from the door.

My room-mate I noticed quickly took the money she came back with and slid it under the mattress. I couldn’t laugh at that moment as I continued praying and then some wisdom came to my mind to move towards the door and push back, he kept resisting and continued trying to open the door but I was not going to give up; by now my room-mate had joined me. He gave up and took off. I am sharing this story to encourage every believer to believe in the power they have as a believer when the scripture says that ‘ the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God in the pulling down of strongholds…….’ Pray in the Spirit at all times and on every occasion. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all believers everywhere.

When you pray in the spirit; you energize your spirit, you are alert and no devil can stop you.  He has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power and a sound mind! That night we could have been raped, we could have been robbed as well but God delivered us. There are many evils our lives can be saved from when we understand and embrace how much God’s power really delivers his people. Believe.

A RIGHTEOUS NATION

So I say again as it is written ‘righteousness exalts a nation, sin is a reproach, a disgrace to any people.’

Righteousness means in right standing; doing the things that are morally right and justifiable. These things please God. Do you know there are many righteous people all over the world who do not even know God? In the context of my writing today, I have discovered there are many nations that are righteous, they do not know God but they do the things that are pleasing to God because those are the right things to do. And you know what? they will be exalted.

A nation that cares for her poor, the weak, the widow, feeds the hungry, provides justice for the cheated, does not throw people in prison without cause, punishes offenders regardless of their status, this type of nation is declared righteous before God. They will be lifted. You see God does not need to know a man personally for his benefits of obeying his principles to work. Even in the church of God, Christ said ye hypocrites, you tithe your smallest income but have neglected the weightier matters of the law – justice, mercy, faith. He said yes you should tithe, but do not neglect the more important things. Do you get an idea that giving justice, equality, having mercy is more important to God than tithing?

Nations where the weak, the sick can get comfort without knowing anyone, where they have put systems in place to take care, not when a woman delivers a baby in a General hospital and the next available space for her is a plastic chair ;no bed.

Why is Bill Gates prospering? He may not even be a Christian. Reason; when anyone genuinely cares for people, that person is meeting the heartbeat of God because human beings are the most precious assets to God on earth and you see, it is his principle the light of such person will break forth like the dawn and his healing spring up speedily, his righteousness shall go before him and the glory of the Lord his rear guard. That is why I am of the opinion, even though such people may not know God; God still preserves them. So I encourage especially if you are a Nigerian, whatever opportunity you have, invest in people, feed the hungry , sponsor children in school, speak against injustice; could we work towards creating a system that is righteous, that cares for the weak. A judicial system that is credible. Free people that have been locked up in prison for no reason. A system that lays hold of four young men on the streets and burns them to death without being charged to court is a wicked system. We must change from our wicked ways and follow the principles that have elevated other prosperous nations.

Love in the society, care for the downtrodden,  the weak, the widow, the sick, freedom for those unjustly in prison. Human rights protection, using the resources of the nation for the good of all not for the benefits of a few and their families. Water, good roads, food in abundance , electricity make the common man comfortable, education for all. These and many more form the heartbeat of God and in essence would make us a righteous nation.

Righteousness lifts up a nation, sin diminishes a people.

CHECK VISION, DREAMS AND PURPOSES

Can two work together except they agree? No they can't if they don't agree. So two people who intend to live together forever must understand what the dreams  (aspirations, imaginations, thoughts etc) of each other are. They must be aware and accept the future they both see of themselves.

If a lady is marrying a pilot for example, she must come to terms with the reality of having her husband being in the air flying an airplane a lot of times. The marriage would come with the risk, Or a man who marries a woman who is a lawyer but now works in the bank as a marketer but derives no pleasure in going to work everyday because the job takes her far from what gives her joy.

One party trying to mold their  spouse later on into who they are not in these situations can ultimately break those marriages .

This means that during courtship discussions on dreams and aspirations are very important. A woman who from time always told a man she would prefer to be a housewife should not be coerced into picking up a job later on. She could just believe in staying at home and taking care of their children. Any man who marries her should not become uncomfortable later in the future.

 hat is not to say people’s dreams don’t change, we must always give room for flexibility and maturity. A person’s dreams can mature and be improved on later on in life. What really matters is the understanding of what is most paramount to the person at that time. Two people are in marriage to make each other better and happy. Any marriage not doing this is off course. Marriage is for a purpose and the two people must discover from God why they ought to marry, for what purpose? That is a discussion for the next post.
